George Papachatzis a lansat brandul The Greek Perfumer pentru a-și îndeplini visul de a crea „cele mai îndrăznețe parfumuri care emană erotism și lux”. Pentru că a lansat recent The Goldess Aphrodite Collection, l-am invitat pe George Papachatzis să răspundă la câteva întrebări ca parte a unui nou interviu flawless.
Care sunt primele tale amintiri olfactive?
Iasomia care invada cu aroma sa nu doar casa noastră, ci întregul cartier. Tufele de trandafiri ai bunicii mele. Gândeşte-te că trecătorii îi cereau permisiunea să intre în grădină pentru a face poze cu trandafirii în fundal! Și în sfârșit, neroli și petit grain, arbori care invadau cartierele Atenei. Este mirosul caracteristic de primăvară al orașului Atena.
Știu că ești pasionat de călătorii. Asociezi anumite mirosuri cu locurile pe care le-ai vizitat în trecut?
Nu aș spune că există o corelație. Cred că un parfum, prin siaj, te poate duce în multe locuri în acelaşi timp. De exemplu, parfumurile de nișă „The Greek Perfumer” te vor face să te simți ca și cum ai călători din Grecia și Marea Mediterană în grădinile Japoniei și Emiratele Arabe Unite. O mulțime de locuri, emoții şi culturi sunt cuprinse într-o singură sticlă de parfum. Asta e magia!

Când vine vorba de alegerea propriilor parfumuri, ce criterii foloseşti?
Pentru mine, parfumul trebuie să fie un însoțitor fidel și invizibil care, prin calitatea sa ridicată a uleiurilor esențiale din compoziţie, să îmi pună în valoare personalitatea fără să fiu nevoit să mă prezint… Un parfum cu un siaj uluitor. Un parfum care să provoace vibrații puternice în lumea mea emoțională. În al doilea rând, mă interesează detalii precum ambalajele de lux handmade, dar și respectarea principiilor sustenabile, în ziua de azi, când mediul este amenințat mai mult ca niciodată.
Fiindcă tot vorbim despre parfumurile tale, care a fost primul parfum pe care l-ai ales pentru tine și de ce?
Apa de parfum Varonos, fougère, din colecția de parfum Jour Naper de la The Greek Perfumer. Motivele sunt emoţionante: acesta este parfumul pe care l-am creat în timpul studiilor la ISIPCA, cel care i-a entuziasmat pe profesorii de parfumerie, făcându-i să-mi spună: „George, tu ești parfumierul grec!”
Care sunt parfumurile tale preferate în acest moment, dacă ai preferinţe?
Apa de parfum Νo 86 din noua colecție de parfumuri „The Goldess Aphrodite Collection”, un parfum care bănuiesc că va provoca tumult pe piaţa internaţională, deoarece combină într-un echilibru incredibil 86 dintre cele mai preţioase uleiuri esențiale din lume.
Apoi, apa de parfum Mastic Onirique. Ştii că Grecia, după Columbia, este a doua țară cu cea mai mare biodiversitate din lume. Prin Mastic Onirique, cu notele sale de vârf de mastic și mandarină din Chios (o insulă din nord-estul Egeei), am încercat să evidenţiez măreția naturii grecești.
Cum și de ce ai decis să creezi primul tău parfum?
Îmi amintesc că de mic colecționam plante și mă jucam cu ele. Miroseam totul cu furie. De la cearșafuri, la condimentele din bucătăria mamei sau pământul, după ploaie. De asemenea, ca tip neconvențional, mi-a plăcut ca ceea ce port eu să nu fie purtat de toată lumea, așa că nu am urmat niciodată moda. Așa a fost și cu parfumurile. Cu uleiurile esențiale pe care colecţionam sau cu parfumurile exclusive, îmi cream propriul mix. Oricine poate cultiva pasiunea mea pentru parfumuri și poate descoperi informații despre uleiuri esențiale rare citind.
Am participat la seminarii tehnice despre parfumuri la Paris și la Grasse, până a venit timpul pentru studiile mele de la ISIPCA. Acolo mi-am găsit inspirația pentru primul meu parfum, Varonos, cu notele mele preferate precum bergamota siciliană, lămâia de Sorrento, vanilia de Madagascar, Santalum album indian și cuișoarele, care mie îmi amintesc de produsele grecești de patiserie!

Reprezintă mitologia greacă un motiv de inspirație pentru tine?

De aceea, logo-ul nostru este chiar zeița frumuseții, fertilității și iubirii. Zeița Afrodita este cea care le-a învățat pentru prima dată pe femeile din lumea antică să folosească parfumurile drept mijloace de seducție!
Ce te-a inspirat să creezi prima ta colecție? Dar noua colecţie, The Goldess Aphrodite Collection?
După 3 ani de cercetare și creație, noua colecție The Goldess Aphrodite Collection se bazează pe cele mai rare și mai preţioase uleiuri esențiale din lume, dar şi pe know-how francez și face referire la istoria Greciei Antice și la „pulsul” Atenei moderne! Rezultatul acestor eforturi: cele 5 noi parfumuri ale noastre – MASTIC ONIRIQUE, LEATHER FOREVER, ORGASMIC OUD, DIONYSIAΝ ORGY și NO 86.
Toate parfumurile pun accent pe lux și seducție. Și, precum o Afrodita modernă, brandul de nișă The Greek Perfumer şi-a propus să te ajute să descoperi partea ta cea mai strălucitoare, dar şi partea strălucitoare a vieţii, prin intermediul parfumurilor.
Sticlele lor luxoase, cu capace metalice grele, aurii, sunt împodobite cu emblema The Greek perfumer, adică zeița Afrodita sub formă de sculptură. Sculptura este realizată în întregime manual şi aduce un omagiu sculpturilor din marmură din antichitate, de unde şi referirile la acest material, care face parte din noua campanie a parfumeriei greceşti. Parfumurile sunt disponibile și într-un format cu foiță de aur de 22 de carate, pentru iubitorii de lux personalizat. Denumiri precum Orgasmic Oud și Dionysian Orgy vor atrage cu siguranţă atenția publicului. Sunt aceste două parfumuri mai senzuale decât celelalte trei care fac parte din The Goldess Aphrodite Collection?
Εxact… Bravo, exact! Orgasmic Oud și Dionysian Orgy celebrează erotismul, seducția și încrederea în sine. Orgasmic Oud, o apa de parfum oriental-gurmandă, se deschide cu note de absolut de trandafir bulgaresc, chimion şi un pic de cardamom, floare de portocal şi piper negru. Notele de mijloc sunt neroli, iris, trandafir, tămâie și piele. Scenariul se desfăşoară pe o bază lemnoasă, care este redusă la tăcere de oud. Pe măsură ce trece timpul, moscul devine din ce în ce mai prezent. Apar note de cedru de Virginia, smirnă, paciuli și lemn de santal, în timp ce vanilia şi notele de tonka învăluie acest prețios „imn” de oud cu un val de căldură.
Pe de altă parte, parfumul Dinoysian Orgy este și mai intrigant. Ca un adevărat talisman de pace interioară, contemplare și veneraţie, compoziția sa începe cu o explozie de struguri, lămâie și piersici. În inima parfumului, notele de bujor sunt proeminente, iar acestea sunt accentuate de un amestec plin de viață: piele întoarsă și violete. Parfumul culminează cu o bază caldă de piele, mosc, vanilie și paciuli.
Una dintre rubricile noastre principale poartă titlul Poezie și parfum. Dacă ar trebui să alegi o singură poezie pentru a descrie unul dintre parfumurile tale, care ar fi acesta?
„Scrisori către un tânăr poet” de Rainer Maria Rilke, mai precis versurile: „şi totuși, vara vine, dar numai pentru cei care știu să aștepte, răbdători și liniștiți, ca și când ar avea înaintea lor o veșnicie.” Pentru mine, aceste versuri simbolizează optimismul care este transmis şi de parfumul Aithria din colecţia Jour Naper de la The Greek Perfumer.

George Papachatzis has launched The Greek Perfumer brand in order to accomplish his dream of creating “the most daring perfumes that stand for eroticism and luxury.” While he also enjoys travel, reading, chemistry, neurology and how scents can influence our behavior, George truly loves his family, animals, nature and the fine art of perfumery. Because he has recently launched The Goldess Aphrodite Collection, we have invited George Papachatzis to answer a couple of questions as part of a new flawless interview.
What are your first olfactory memories?
The jasmine that flooded with its aroma not only our house, but also the whole neighborhood. My grandmother’s rose bushes. Think that passers-by were asking her permission to enter the garden to take pictures with her rose bushes in the background! And finally, the neroli and petit grain that overwhelmed the neighborhoods of Athens. It is the characteristic spring scent of Αthens city.
I know you are a travel enthusiast. Do you associate specific scents to places you have visited in the past?
I wouldn’t say there is a correlation. I think that a perfume can take you to many places at the same time through its sillage. For example, the perfumes of „The Greek Perfumer” niche perfumery will make you feel like you are traveling from Greece and the Mediterranean to the gardens of Japan and the United Arab Emirates. A lot of places, emotions, cultures are captured in one perfume bottle. That is the magic!
For me, the perfume must be a faithful and invisible companion that, through its high quality of the essential oils, highlights my personality without having to introduce myself.

When it comes to choosing your own perfumes, what criteria do use to select them?
For me, the perfume must be a faithful and invisible companion that, through its high quality of the essential oils, highlights my personality without having to introduce myself. A perfume with amazing sillage. A scent that causes strong vibrations in my emotional world. Secondly, I am interested in details such as luxurious handmade packaging, but also respecting sustainable principles, today, when the environment is threatened more than ever.
Speaking about your perfumes, what was the first perfume you selected for yourself and why?
The Varonos fougère eau de parfum from the Jour Naper Perfume collection by The Greek Perfumer. The reasons are moving, since it is the perfume that I have created during my studies at ISIPCA, the perfume that excited the perfumery professors and made them say to me: „George, you are the Greek perfumer!”
What are your favorite perfumes at the moment, if any?
Τhe Νo 86 eau de parfum from the new perfume collection „The Goldess Aphrodite Collection, a fragrance that I think will stir the waters of international perfumery since it combines with an incredible balance 86 of the most valuable essential oils in the world.
Furthermore, the Mastic Onirique eau de parfum. You know Greece after Colombia is the second most biodiverse country in the world. And through Mastic Onirique, with its top notes of mastic and Chios mandarin (an island in the Northeast Aegean), I have tried to capture the greatness of Greek nature.
How and why did you decide to create your first perfume?
I remember collecting plants and playing with their anatomy from a young age. I smelled everything furiously. From the sheets, to the spices in my mother’s kitchen or the soil after the rain. Also, as an unconventional guy, I liked what I wear not to be worn by everyone, so I never followed fashion. So it was with perfumes. With the essential oils I collected or with exclusive perfumes, I made my own mix. All grown ups can be educated in my passion for fragrances and rare essential oil information through books.
I attended seminars on perfume technique in Paris and Grasse, until it was time for my studies at ISIPCA. That’s where I got the inspiration for my first perfume, Varonos, with my favorite notes like Sicilian bergamot, Sorrento lemon, Madagascar vanilla, Indian sandalwood Αlbum and clove, which reminds me of Greek pastry sweets!
We are taught mythology as children in school and it follows us throughout our lives, as it conveys great philosophical messages and moral values.

That is why our logo is the goddess of beauty, fertility and love. The goddess Aphrodite, who first taught the women of the ancient world to use their perfumes as means of seduction!
What inspired you to create your first collection? What about the new one, the Goldess Aphrodite Collection?
After 3 full years of research and creation, the new Goldess Aphrodite Collection is based on the rarest and the most expensive essential oils in the world, French know-how and strong references to the history of Ancient Greece and the pulse of modern Athens! The fruit of this work: our 5 new perfumes – MASTIC ONIRIQUE, LEATHER FOREVER, ORGASMIC OUD, DIONYSIAΝ ORGY and NO 86.
All the fragrances put an emphasis on luxury and seduction. As a contemporary Aphrodite, the niche perfume brand The Greek Perfumer, has made it its purpose to help you discover the brighter side of yourself and the brighter side of life, through fragrances.
Their luxurious bottles with heavy metallic gold caps are adorned with the emblem of The Greek Perfumer, the goddess Aphrodite in the form of a sculpture. The sculpture is entirely handmade and points to the marble sculptures of antiquity, hence the strong references to this material that framed the new campaign of the Greek perfumery. Names like Orgasmic Oud and Dionysian Orgy are bound to attract some attention. Are these two perfumes more sensual in nature when compared to the others three in The Goldess Aphrodite Collection?
Εxactly… Well done exactly! Orgasmic Oud and Dionysian Orgy celebrate eroticism, seduction and confidence. Orgasmic Oud, an oriental-gourmand eau de parfum opens with an absolute Bulgarian rose note, cumin and a hint of cardamom, orange blossom and black pepper. The middle notes are neroli, iris, rose, incense and leather. The set is placed on a wooden base that is overtly silenced by the oud. As time goes by, the musk becomes more and more present. Virginia cedar, myrrh, patchouli and sandalwood notes appear, while vanilla with tonka seeds envelop this precious oud hymn with a veil of warmth.
Οn the other hand, the perfume Dionysian Orgy is even more intriguing. Like a talisman of inner peace, contemplation and worship, its composition begins with a burst of grape, lemon and peach. At its heart, the peony notes are prominent and they are underlined by a lively blend of suede and violet. The fragrance culminates in a warm base of leather, musk, vanilla and patchouli.
One of our main columns bears the title Poetry and perfume. If you would have to choose a single poem to depict one of your fragrances, what would that be?
„The Letters to a young poet” by Rilke Rainer-Maria and specifically the verse „summer will come only to those who know how to wait with faith and patience as if they had eternity before them.” For me, it symbolizes the optimism that is also present in the fragrance Aithria of the Jour Naper collection by The Greek Perfumer.
